Although Cal.com is only 2nd in AI answers to Calendly, Calendly captures 50× more value from organic search.
We ran this audit across five generative AI platforms and the entire scheduling SaaS search market. Cal.com’s gap in AI visibility and organic search relative to Calendly traces back to Cal.com having very few pages targeting commercial searches that its audience is looking for solutions to.

At a glance
AI visibility
When someone asks AI which scheduling tool to use, Cal.com is mentioned 2nd behind Calendly.
We asked five generative AI platforms questions typically asked about scheduling software. Calendly is named in 96.7% of those answers; Cal.com is second at 62%. However, Cal.com already beats Acuity, Chili Piper, and SavvyCal, so the gap here is a ceiling, rather than a floor. Both gaps trace to one cause, the thread through this whole audit: the engines cite the commercial pages Calendly has built and Cal.com has not, so closing the search gap and lifting AI answers are the same work.
Neutral questions = prompts that don’t name any brand (n=424 answers); a question that names a brand trivially returns it. Whiskers are 95% confidence intervals (Wilson): the range the true rate could plausibly be, given only this many answers. Measured, not modeled. Organic Search
Cal.com and Calendly are nearly even on domain authority, yet Calendly has 10.1× the referring domains and pulls 19× the organic search traffic.
Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR) for Cal.com is 92 and Calendly’s is 95, so on raw domain authority the two are close to even. That is where the parity ends. Calendly has 10.1× the referring domains and earns 50× more value from organic search worldwide. The gap is mostly coverage, which searches each site has pages for, and only partly links. Domain authority is not what is holding Cal.com back.
Some of that authority is actively leaking. Cal.com’s open cal.com/[username]booking namespace is neither noindexed nor robots-blocked, so Google has indexed off-topic spam on Cal.com’s own domain, including an unrelated gossip page at cal.com/hl718 pulling roughly 1,055 visits a month. The technical audit maps the full leak and the template-level fix.
Y axis is logarithmic (10K / 50K / 100K / 500K) so the smaller domains stay legible; a linear axis would flatten every non-Calendly point into the baseline. Non-scheduling domains that overlap on these keywords (google, zapier, squareup) are excluded. US scope. Source: Ahrefs organic-competitors census, July 3, 2026.

The Gap
Calendly earns an estimated $116.8K/mo from 197 commercial searches and wins them with product pages, rather than blog posts.
Calendly ranks on page one for 197 non-branded scheduling searches, like “best scheduling software” or “free appointment booking.” Together they are worth about $116.8K/mo in traffic value (what the equivalent Google Ads clicks would cost). That is revenue Calendly collects today: an addressable pool, not a Cal.com projection. Cal.com already ranks in the top 10 for a handful of them.

Roadmap
The plan is to optimize the terms Cal.com already ranks for, build the commercial pages Cal.com lacks relative to Calendly, and then extend the editorial program Cal.com already runs.
The phases are ordered by impact. Cal.com already publishes fast (10.9 posts/mo over the trailing year to Calendly’s 2.4), so the need is to shift the cadence toward commercial pages, rather than to raise volume.
The right column is the estimated addressable value (Calendly’s current traffic × CPC on those terms), an opportunity pool, never a Cal.com forecast. Phase 1 optimizes existing pages, so its value is speed, not new search dollars. Sequencing from the shipped keyword strategy, July 3, 2026.
On-page work plus the head terms Calendly dominates (#1–#5), on pages Cal.com already has.
Solutions, vertical and appointment pages mirroring the set Calendly wins with product pages.
